Access Florida -

   In cooperation with Florida’s Department of Children and Family Services, Shady Hills United Methodist Church
   serves as a resource to those in need of services such as food stamps and Medicare.  Access is available from 9 to 1
   every Wednesday, except holidays. Volunteers assist clients with applying for DCF services on line. 
 
   All communications are confidential and volunteers have received DCF training and certification for participation
   in this ministry. Between Jan. 1 and Sept. 1, 1963 persons and their families have  accessed DCF services
   through the Shady Hills site. Two volunteers are available each Wednesday.

Mobile Medical Unit- Second Wednesday of every month. Health care for the under insured and uninsured. Next November 10, 2021.

Christmas Eve Candlelight Service -

    December 24th, 2021

Hands On Ministry -

    The men's group offers help for community members needing maintenance and small repairs.

Metro-Market -

    This is a unique opportunity for those in need to receive items from our food store.  Those in need complete a brief information form and meet with the program manager, Laura Hootman.  They are given a form identifying amounts and categories of food. Volunteers then assemble food selections based upon the number of people
in the household. They are also given the opportunity to select complete clothing outfits for themselves and family members from the Thrift Store. Hours of operation are Wednesday from 9-1. Between January and September, Metro Market has served 505 families, over 1,454 persons ,with 16 volunteers spending over 1100 hours of service.

Thrift Store -

    The thrift store accepts donations of clothing, books, and household items. No electronics, computers or
    furniture, please.  Low cost clothing and other items are available to the community.   Hours of operation
    are 9-1 Wednesday through Saturday. From August through January of 2013, the thrift store earned
    approximately $12.000.00 to help support church ministries.
